Global Youth Summit 2020
In October 2020, we brought together 250 youth from over 75 unique countries in a multi-day summit in partnership with the Club of Rome. Small group discussions were focused on the Club of Rome Impact Hub topics: Climate-Planetary Emergency, Emerging New Civilization, Reframing Economics & Rethinking Finance. Additionally, we focused on Sustainable Development Goal #16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Over the few days with the youth participants, we built community across cultures, learned from individual's lived experiences, and ensured that these valuable perspectives would be heard by policymakers, government officials, business & academic leaders, and more. Below is the report from the summit held in October, showcasing recurring themes brought up by youth.
We knew that the summit couldn't just be the end of our youth engagement work, even before the summit occurred. We also knew that 250 youth voices were just a fraction of a fraction of who we wanted to hear from. Our next step in our youth engagement program was to launch our global youth listening session initiative, where we would be able to hear from thousands of youth, build connections across communities worldwide, and empower youth to make a change.
